A TAXI driver was bashed by two men wearing balaclavas in East Victoria Park this morning.
The taxi driver was sitting in his car on Canterbury Terrace about 5.30am when a car pulled up behind him.
Two men wearing balaclavas and gloves got out of the car, one of them approached the driver’s side of the taxi and the other ran to the passenger’s side of the car.
One of the thugs opened the driver’s door, grabbed the keys from the ignition and punched the taxi driver in the face.
The thugs, one of whom was armed with a screwdriver, ransacked the taxi before a resident of the street confronted them and they jumped into a waiting car.
Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
